About Us

Located on the outskirts of the Cornell University campus, the Survey Research Institute (SRI) is a state-of-the-art survey organization that works with researchers at Cornell and elsewhere to fulfill a broad range of data collection needs. SRI has expertise in all aspects of survey work: establishing survey objectives, identifying the study population and key concepts in operational terms, selecting methods of sampling, instrument design and testing, data collection, and analysis. SRI has conducted over 1,800 survey research projects using all methods of data collection, including telephone, web, and mail.

Since SRI was founded in 1996, our list of clients has included economists and statisticians, private industry, government agencies - including a survey for Presidents Clinton and Bush, and large non-profit organizations such as Baystate Health, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, and New York State Commission for the Blind. We have worked with colleges and universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, and Michigan, to name a few. In addition to conducting fieldwork, the facility communicates and disseminates information on statistical practice and recommends the introduction of new methodologies in statistical programs to improve data quality.

SRI is a member of the Academic Associate of Survey Research Organizations (AASRO), the American Association of Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), and an AAPOR Transparency Initiative charter member.
